چکیده

Introduction Elastic layered metal-organic framework (ELM) adsorbents exhibit a flexible two-dimensional latent porous crystalline structure. ELMs undergo abrupt reversible gated sorption transitions from an empty collapsed structure to a filled expanded porous state through cooperative adsorption of guest molecules between layer planes. Gated adsorption has been observed for methane, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases [1]. The ELM gating transition and associated hysteresis loop is different than the gas condensation phase transition commonly observed for other nanoporous adsorbents, in that it is induced by rearrangement of the MOF structure rather than by adsorbent pore size distribution effects.

Carbon Dioxide Capture on Metal-organic Frameworks with Amide-decorated Pores

CO2 is the main greenhouse gas emitted from the combustion of fossil fuels and is considered a threat in the context of global warming. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) schemes embody a group of technologies for the capture of CO2 from power plants, followed by compression, transport, and permanent storage. Key advances in recent years include the further development of ne...

Innovative nano-layered solid sorbents for CO2 capture.

Nano-layered sorbents for CO(2) capture, for the first time, were developed using layer-by-layer nanoassembly. A CO(2)-adsorbing polymer and a strong polyelectrolyte were alternately immobilized within porous particles. The developed sorbents had fast CO(2) adsorption and desorption properties and their CO(2) capture capacity increased with increasing nano-layers of the CO(2)-adsorbing polymer.

Mechanisms of Mercury Capture and Breakthrough on Activated Carbon Sorbents

An extensive series of studies was performed at the Energy & Environmental Research Center with mercury (Hgo) sorbents in a thin bed using combinations of various flue gas constituents. This work determined that all the sorbents exhibited breakthrough in about I hour in the full flue gas mixture, and the mercury emitted after breakthrough is an oxidized mercury species. Trapping of the oxidized...

Low-energy selective capture of carbon dioxide by a pre-designed elastic single-molecule trap.

Single-molecule trap: Easy activation of the water-stable metal-organic framework PCN-200 provides a new route to low-energy selective CO(2) capture through stimuli-responsive adsorption behavior. This elastic CO(2) trapping effect was confirmed by single-component and binary gas-adsorption isotherms and crystallographic determination.

Robust C–C bonded porous networks with chemically designed functionalities for improved CO2 capture from flue gas

Effective carbon dioxide (CO2) capture requires solid, porous sorbents with chemically and thermally stable frameworks. Herein, we report two new carbon-carbon bonded porous networks that were synthesized through metal-free Knoevenagel nitrile-aldol condensation, namely the covalent organic polymer, COP-156 and 157. COP-156, due to high specific surface area (650 m2/g) and easily interchangeabl...
